Tragedy to Triumph
We all love a good story! From Shakespeare's plays to C.S. Lewis' writing to Hamilton on broadway -- Stories are powerful and effective when used in certain ways. Personal stories, ones that have low moments and high moments -- you could say tragedies and triumphs. Mark, too, had a story he wanted to tell about Jesus. We see in Mark's gospel writings that a historical event happened on that Good Friday, one that was very familiar to his Roman Christian audience. We have no context of the final days of Jesus in our modern era, until now...

The Best Is Yet To Come
Never underestimate the power of an incentive. The promise of a reward moves us. Whether's it's hitting our sales goal or buying the seventh cup of coffee for a future free drink. In the last message of our sermon series, Courage and Conviction, Daniel is a model of how to navigate life in a world that is constantly changing. That if we remember faith in the future provides power in the present. That the best is yet to come...

    The Lion Sleeps Tonight
Daniel resolved from the start that he would not defile himself but rather, he would continue to serve God in the land of exile. Daniel drew a line in the sand and was not about to cross it. Daniel's conviction was that God is the one true god. One day, his faith was tested and his integrity was challenged, Some of Daniel's colleagues conspired against him and with the help of King Darius, made a decree that all must bow down to the king. Daniel refused and found himself in the pit of lions. This is where we think the story ends, but God sovereign and was with Daniel in the lion's den.

    God’s Gonna Cut You Down
We continue looking at the story of Daniel, by focusing on yet another dream by King Nebuchadnezzar. But who is this Nebuchadnezzar anyway? What dream did he have Daniel interrupt? What was the meaning of the dream? Spend a few minutes with Pastor Jim as he answers those questions. Bonus questions: What's up with all the song titles, anyway?

    I Won’t Back Down
As we continue in the book of Daniel, we learn how we might live with courage and conviction. Today, we look at the original "ring of fire." You see, Daniel's fiends: Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah (better known as Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego) had taken a stand before King Nebuchadnezzar that resulted in them being thrown into the fiery furnace. Only for the king to discover, there was more than the three men in the furnace. By taking a stand, their faith was tested and that's a faith you can trust in.

    God Only Knows
you just have to know where to find them. That's where Daniel found himself in Chapter 2. The King had a dream, he didn't tell anyone what the dream was about, and no one could interpret the dream, except for Daniel. Daniel went to the source -- God -- and God revealed the dream and the interpretation for Daniel. Wisdom and power come when we seek God in prayer. So when you find yourself without answers or an uncertain future, go to the source -- God. God only knows the real you.

    The Times They Are A-Changin
In our best Bob Dylan impression, "The Times They Are A-Changin.'" Yes, the culture is shifting around us, yet its nothing new under the sun. In fact, we look to the book of Daniel, and we see Daniel and his friends plucked out of their own culture and dropped into a very different and secular culture. What we discover is how they embrace the tension of taking a stand and when they can disagree without being disagreeable.

    Facing Financial Fear
We have spent several weeks considering how money affects our relationships. Because love and money tend to collide. Money issues are one of the most common causes of conflict on marriages. But it's not only couples, money is part of our lives and hence works its way into all our relationships. So we conclude with ourselves: how does my relationship with money affect me? Pastor Jim unpacks the financial fears we all have when it comes to money and invites us, as Jesus did, to not worry or fear or be anxious about money.

    What Money Can’t Buy
Money can't buy you happiness. We've all heard that. We can acquire the most toys, techie gear, a nice house, car, and the dream of his and hers closets. We have been spending the month looking at how money and love collide. Money is apart of lives and hence a part of our relationships that collide together. We look at how money impacts our relationship with our neighbors...especially when we covet what others have.
