Heroes In Your House

We all have heroes. Grandparents, teachers, friends, co-workers, entertainers, or service workers. Heroes walk among us or their legacy lives on. But what about your parents? God told us in Ten Commandments to “honor your father and mother.” Later in Ephesians, Paul describes to children, “to obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.” This is the first commandment that deals directly with a human-to-human relationship and it comes with a promise: Honor, obey, listen to your parents — so it may go well with you and enjoy life. The bigger point though is not just obey our parents, but with everyone who we come in contact with. Love requires that treat others as we want to be treated.
