What is the Living Nativity?

Good question! Several years ago we set out to engage the people of Chautauqua county during the Christmas season. We want something that was both interactive and fun. Thus, Living Nativity was dreamed. Living Nativity is a walking tour, with a storyteller guide, through four immersive stations. The storyteller will guide the tours as you step back in time to that first Christmas. You’ll experience the shepherds in the fields with their sheep, an angels visiting Mary and Joseph in a dream, a choir of angels announcing the birth of Christ, and the final scene being the nativity of Mary, Joseph, and baby Jesus…with a few visitors (you). You will live the nativity 2000 years ago. You might even run into the Wise Men too!

What about children?

Children are absolutely encouraged to go on the tour. There is something for everyone on the tour. Children will be able to see animals, ask questions, and enjoy the tour. Before you start your journey, you will be invited to enjoy some cookies and hot beverages, participate in interactive activities while you wait for your group to start and enjoy some Christmas music in the background.

How long is the tour?

The tours will be heading out every 10 minutes. The entire tour last approximately 40 mins.

Is the tour handicap accessible?

Yes! We have thought through this very carefully and every part of the tour is very easy to navigate. There are no steps or steep hills to climb. The building is equipped with ramps and wide spaces for you. Each station will include a few chairs if you need a breather or to sit down.

What are the times again?

You can come anytime between the hours of 5-8pm on Saturday Dec. 15th; 9am-1pm Sunday Dec. 16th or 5-7pm Sunday evening.

What to expect Christmas Eve?

This is a special time of year as we await the newborn King–Jesus. We have three Christmas Eve worship services planned for you and your family, each service is identical in content and length (1 hour long). We will sing familiar Christmas carols with words displayed on our two screens. We will enjoy special music and the message of hope surrounding the birth of Christ. All three services conclude with candle lighting and a chorus of “Silent Night.” Children are included in this special time with battery operated candles just for them.

We will also worship in giving and the monies received this year will go towards our Christmas Offering. You can read more about our Christmas Offering projects  here. Following service, we will have an opportunity for you and your family or friends to join us at our photo booth in the lobby and free cookies/coffee in the cafe.

Following our service, we invite you, your family and friends to join us at our Christmas photo booth in the lobby. To round out the night, complementary cookies and hot beverages will be available to enjoy in the cafe!

 What are the times, again?

We are offering three identical services: 1pm, 5pm, and 6:30pm. Join us at any of the services.

What about children?

We have a couple options for those of you with young children. First, we want families to be together to join in this special time of year. However, if you have a restless child because they can’t wait for their gifts, we have a nursery available for those ages four and under (at the 1pm service only). Another option is our parent-child room. It’s a place where your kids are free to be kids but you are able to hear and see the service in its entirety. We ask that you stay with your children in this room (there are no volunteers in this room).

How should I dress?

This is totally up to you. We are a come-as-you-are church. If you want to dress up in your Christmas best or want to come in your sweater and jeans–you are free to dress as you would normally.

Can I save seats?

Doors will open :20 mins prior to each service. You are free to save seats prior to the service. Once service has begun, we ask that you please refrain from reserving seats so can we make room for everyone to feel welcome.
